Terms of use
These terms apply to the website at interactivedemocracy.eu and to the Interactive Democracy platform. Both are run by Interactive Democracy. By using either, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use them. How information is handled is set out separately on the privacy page.
What the platform is
- The platform presents a short brief on a public question, shows you the strongest good-faith case against the view you hold, and lets you contribute your reasoning. Decision-makers see only the aggregate picture.
- Briefs and opposing cases are generated with the help of AI models. They are prepared with care, but they may contain errors, omissions or out-of-date information. Check anything you intend to rely on. Nothing on the platform is legal, financial, medical or professional advice.
- The platform does not advocate for any policy, party or candidate, including any organisation associated with the people who built it. It reports what contributors conclude; it does not tell anyone what to conclude.
- The scenarios currently on the platform are demonstrations. Contributing is not a response to any statutory consultation and is not forwarded to any public body unless a scenario page expressly says so.
Your contributions
- You keep ownership of what you write.
- You give Interactive Democracy a worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, analyse, anonymise and aggregate your contribution, to publish aggregate results, and to use anonymised contributions for research and for evaluating the method. This licence is what makes the aggregate picture possible.
- You confirm that a contribution is your own reasoning, in your own words; that it contains no personal information about other people; and that it is not unlawful, defamatory or infringing.
- Nothing is submitted without your explicit confirmation. The platform drafts nothing on your behalf and sends nothing until you press submit.
Acceptable use
Do not use bots, scripts or multiple sessions to inflate or skew contributions; do not scrape the platform; do not probe, disrupt or interfere with its security or operation; do not use it to harass anyone or to post content you have no right to post. Contributions that breach these terms may be removed from the aggregate.
Intellectual property
- The text, design and software of the website and platform are © Interactive Democracy. All rights reserved unless a specific licence says otherwise.
- The method paper is published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence at doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.22141369. You may reuse it with attribution.
- "Interactive Democracy" and the i.D. mark are trade marks. Do not use them in a way that suggests endorsement or affiliation without written permission.
Availability and liability
The website and platform are provided as they are and as available, without any warranty. They may change, pause or close at any time. To the fullest extent the law allows, Interactive Democracy is not liable for any loss arising from your use of them or reliance on their content. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Changes and law
These terms may be updated; the date at the top shows the current version. They are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute.
